Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour

With the Halloween season quickly approaching at the Disney Parks I’m going to being highlighting some of the spooky things every boy and ghoul can enjoy during Halloween at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. First up on the list is Disney’s Happiest Haunts Tour, a special tour that is available at Disneyland during their Halloween season which runs this year September 6, 2019 through October 31, 2019.

The Disneyland website describes this as an historical walking tour of Disneyland Resort:

“Brace yourself for gripping tales of spooks and spirits from the nether realms… and beyond! While leading ghoul-loving Guests from park to park, this 2.5-hour guided tour explores Halloween by conjuring ghost stories, tricks, treats and even an encounter with one of the Haunted Mansion’s most familiar faces. You’ll learn about the legends of various film and park poltergeists, pranksters and other creepy characters—as well as their creators. It’s frightfully delightful fun you’ll never forget!”

Peter and I got to experience this tour last year (2018) as our anniversary gift to each other. This was our first ever guided tour so it was extra special.

Upon checkin to the tour you receive a fun name badge and your headset. If you feel more comfortable using your own headphones you can, just remember to bring them with you.

The tour winds through Disneyland Park making its way down Main Street USA through Frontierland all while our “ghost host” told us tales about the decor, ghosts, and how some rides and movies intertwine with ghost stories. After Frontierland we headed to New Orleans Square where the tour gets to skip the line and ride Haunted Mansion Holiday.

Once done with learning fun facts about Haunted Mansion Holiday we got to head Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante to learn about Dia de los Muertos while getting a delicious treat exclusive to the tour. We were served pan de muerto which is a sweet bread. After our snack we hopped over to Disney California Adventure to learn about the decor there and learn about the fun old Mickey horror movies. We also caught a quick glimpse of Radiator Screams and then got to pick up our second treat, pumpkin fudge.

After the pumpkin fudge we headed back to Disneyland for our final ghastly treat…hitchhiking ghosts!

We got to see up close two of the three hitchhiking ghost animatronics and get this spooky photo op! To be honest this was the biggest selling point of this tour for me. As we left the photo op and the tour we also got a beautiful commemorative pin.

All in all this tour was a ton of fun for us because we are insane Halloween people. If you’re not super crazy about Halloween and have never experienced a Disneyland guided tour before I would probably suggest the Walk in Walt’s Footsteps Tour as we you will get a more all encompassing overview of Disneyland and will be probably be more bang for your buck. If you love all things spooky this is the tour for you!
